Terms of Service

1. Agreement to terms

By accessing or using Mathsonaut ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Mathsonaut is operated from the UK. The operator’s legal name and business contact address must be supplied before these draft terms are published.

2. Who can use Mathsonaut

• You must be at least 18 years old to create a parent account.
• Child profiles may only be created by a parent or legal guardian.
• By creating a child profile, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of the child and have read how learning data is used in our Privacy Policy.
• The introductory free topics may be used without an account.

3. The Service

Mathsonaut is an online maths learning platform for children aged 4–11. The Service includes:

• Interactive, curriculum-aligned maths lessons across 13 levels
• AI-generated personalised practice questions
• Progress tracking and analytics for parents
• Badges, streaks, and rewards to motivate learners

4. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You must not share your login details with anyone. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

Each account may have up to 5 child profiles.

5. Payment and pricing

• The first four introductory topics are free, with no account required.
• Full access to all 13 levels is available via an annual subscription. The current price is displayed on the checkout page.
• Payment is processed securely by Stripe. We do not store card details.
• Subscriptions auto-renew annually. You may cancel at any time from your parent dashboard. Upon cancellation, access continues until the end of the current billing period.
• Discount codes, where offered, are single-use and subject to their own terms.

6. Refunds

If you are not satisfied with Mathsonaut, you may request a refund within 14 days of purchase. You can process your refund directly from the parent dashboard under Account Settings. Alternatively, you can email support@mathsonaut.com.

• Refunds are available within 14 days of purchase.
• Upon refund, your subscription is cancelled and paid access ends immediately.
• The current automated refund process also removes progress for Levels 2–13. Contact support before using it if you want to preserve learning records. This behaviour is under review; it does not limit your right to request a refund.
• The current automated refund process retains Level 1 progress and child profiles.
• Refunds typically take 5–10 business days to appear on your statement.

Our 14-day money-back offer is additional to your statutory rights. You retain rights where digital content is faulty, not as described, or the service is not supplied with reasonable care and skill. Starting play does not by itself waive statutory cancellation rights.

Cancellation request

You can cancel renewal in the parent dashboard or send a clear cancellation statement to support@mathsonaut.com. For a cooling-off cancellation, you can use: “I give notice that I cancel my Mathsonaut subscription, ordered on [date]. Account email: [email]. Name: [parent name]. Date: [today].” No special wording is required. A complete statutory cancellation form and the operator’s postal details must be provided before publication.

7. AI-generated content

Mathsonaut uses artificial intelligence to generate some maths questions. While we strive for accuracy:

• AI-generated content is provided for educational purposes and may occasionally contain errors.
• We review and validate question formats but cannot guarantee perfection in every generated question.
• Parents are encouraged to supervise younger children during use.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to access another user's account
• Interfere with the proper operation of the Service
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Use automated tools to scrape content from the Service

9. Intellectual property

All content on Mathsonaut — including text, graphics, teaching materials, questions, character designs, and software — is owned by Mathsonaut or its licensors and is protected by copyright law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.

10. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Mathsonaut available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may make reasonable updates for security, technical or educational reasons. Material reductions to a paid service require advance notice and appropriate cancellation or refund arrangements. If we discontinue the service, we will explain how to obtain a refund for the unused paid period.

11. Limitation of liability

We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms removes your mandatory consumer rights. The service is supplied for personal family use.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Termination

You can request account closure by emailing support@mathsonaut.com; deleting a child profile alone does not cancel your subscription. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. This does not remove mandatory protections or rights to bring proceedings in the courts available to consumers where they live.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email. Changes will not retrospectively remove accrued rights. If a material change affects an existing subscription, we will explain your options before it takes effect.
